We found that trailers can be hugely contrasted to opening title sequence, as trailers consist of heavy dialogue. This is so the story can be told almost directly to the audience, without showing the whole film. Whereas in an opening title sequence dialogue is not necessary as it gives subtle hints towards the genre. We are reluctant to overload it with unnecessary dialogue and are therefore going for a basic script.
Mother of birth mother: GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! (slams door)
Birth mother: (In the hospital giving birth) AGHH. I can't do it! (looks down at baby and runs out of hospital)
Baby grows up to be a little girl - (On torture bed screaming) - (gruesome graphic shots - only see adoptive parents hands)
Birth mother (telling friend) I can swear that I saw something last night. A shadow was whispering something.
(voice over) - A small mistake is important not to make.
Friend: Maybe you're going crazy.
Birth mother- It's probably just me.
- Shots then carry through at the cathedral and leads up to a screaming shot. There are fast edited shots of the little girl following her birth mother for revenge. Fast sudden beats of drums occur with captions such as 'thrilling' and spine chilling' appear throughout the trailer.
